50 CAIO EMILLENNIUM BUSES DELIVERED TO SAO PAULO`S PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM

2023-09-19 Last Monday, September 18th, the Sao Paulo City Hall delivered 50 units of electrically-powered buses, concluding another stage in the goal of including less polluting vehicles in the city`s Transport System fleet. The event, held at the Charles Miller Square at Pacaembu, was attended by Ricardo Nunes, the city`s mayor, and other authorities, as well as partner companies and the operators Ambiental, Campo Belo, Transppass and Transwolff, all of which will be including the electric units in their fleets.
With the delivery of these units, the City Hall is making progress towards its goal of electrifying at least 20% of the capital`s bus fleet by 2024. This commitment is in line with the decarbonization and energy transition of the diesel bus fleet to low-emission buses, in accordance with Law 16802 and the Climate Change Law, which provides for the reduction of fossil carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by 2028 and the neutralization of this pollutant by 2038.
More about the units delivered
All the units are eMillennium models produced in 12.1-meter versions (25 units for Transwolff), 15-meter versions (24 units, 12 for Transppass and 12 for Ambiental) and a 21.5-meter superarticulated model produced for Campo Belo.
Developed specifically for electric propulsion chassis, it`s a bus with 100% Brazilian technology, with a Caio eMillennium body, Eletra electrical system, Weg battery and the entire base for the recharging and maintenance infrastructure provided by Enel-X.
“eMillennium brings the latest in sustainable mobility to public passenger transport. In addition to zero emissions, it has polymer components, a 100% recyclable material that provides high durability and a superior finish. We are once again collaborating in favor of the transition from fossil fuel-based to electric collective urban mobility systems,`` says José Gildo Vendramini, aka Zezinho, Caio`s national sales manager present at the handover.
“Once again, we are placing Caio and its partners at the forefront of public passenger transportation, using a sustainable matrix. We believe that Sao Paulo will soon be among the leading cities in electromobility,`` says Paulo Ruas, CEO and commercial vice-president of the Caio Group.
During the event, Mayor Ricardo Nunes commented on the evolution of collective mobility`s transition to a more sustainable matrix, among other actions. ``The city, which is the fifth largest metropolis in the world, has to look at its environmental issue in all areas, in terms of water, forest, soil, heat and air. Today, it is an important stage in this context of sustainability, which is inserted worldwide as one of the cities that has taken the most responsible actions with regard to climate issues and environmental preservation”
